The Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA) is searching for a Project Manager for its Southeast Asia Initiative on Tobacco Tax (SITT) project.

Position: Project Manager
Time allocation: Full-time
Location: Bangkok, Thailand
Salary range: 2,000 – 2,200 USD/month
Open to: Individuals not associated with the tobacco industry
Closing date for applications: 25 January 2010
Project Term: 57 months

The Project: Using the SEATCA organizational model of regional collaboration and technical assistance, to support specific efforts of Indonesia, Cambodia, Lao PDR, Philippines, and Vietnam to reduce tobacco use through increased tobacco taxes and effective package warning labels.  This project is supported by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation.

Responsibilities: With the Project Director, the Project Manager will be responsible for the overall coordination, implementation, control and completion of both regional-level and country-specific project components.  The successful candidate will report directly to the Project Director and work in close collaboration with other members of the project’s regional team and country-level partners to achieve the project objectives.

Qualifications: University degree, preferably with experience in public health or health economics.  Solid knowledge base in project management is essential, with at least 3 years in this field. Skills should include including planning, critical thinking, problem-solving, and organizational skills. Applicants must be able to work independently and within a team structure, prepare timely reports, and possess above-average oral and written English skills. Preference will be given to candidates located in the ASEAN region.
