Last 20 September, the Ministry of Health and Sports (MOHS) in close collaboration with the People’s Health Foundation (PHF) with support from SEATCA organised a workshop on Smoke-free Universities in Yangon, Myanmar.
The workshop attended by 14 Universities in Myanmar aims to encourage other non-medical universities in Myanmar to join the smoke-free initiative. SEATCA’s Smoke-free Program Manager Dr. Domilyn Villarreiz was the main resource speaker assisted by SEATCA’s Sustainable Funding for Health Program Manager Dr. May Myat Cho.
The workshop was opened by Dr. Tin Tun, Deputy Director General of the Department of Human Resources for Health – MOHS who represented Minister Dr. Myint Htwe. The Ministry of Higher Education also sent representatives to the said workshop.
The Smoke-free Universities Program was initiated by PHF and SEATCA in 2016.
