Philippines: Integrated Tobacco Taxation Workshop

5-8 December 2017: SEATCA’s Tobacco Tax Program Manager Ms. Sophapan Ratanachena and FCTC Program Director Dr. Ulysses Dorotheo are the main resource persons in the Integrated Tobacco Taxation Workshop organised in Manila by the Philippine Department of Health and Department of Finance with support from the Thailand’s Ministry off Health and Ministry of Finance, FCTC Knowledge Hub on Taxation, Southeast Asia Tobacco Control Alliance (SEATCA), WHO Western Pacific Regional Office, the WHO FCTC Convention Secretariat. 

The workshop aims to better understand and apply effective strategies on tax reforms and legislations as well as learn from the Philippines and Thailand’s experiences on multi-sectorial involvement. 

This is an offshoot of the 3rd meeting of the South-South and Triangular Cooperation in Montevideo, Uruguay wherein the Philippines and Thailand were identified as providers of technical assistance for Article 6 of the WHO FCTC.
