Cambodia: Phnom Penh youth leads World No Tobacco Day celebrations

Phnom Penh, Cambodia, 30 May 2019: As part of the World No Tobacco Day 2019 celebrations, the Boy Scouts of Cambodia, the Red Cross Youth with support from the Phnom Penh Administration in collaboration with the Districts of Daun Penh and Chomkar Morn organized a march to promote smoke-free environments and to raise awareness about dangers of smoking and secondhand smoke. 

The youth walked along the main streets around Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Wat Phnom Monument, and distributed flyers and no smoking signs to businesses. During the march, youth participants were also holding signboards that contain information about the dangers of smoking and secondhand smoke.

This activity is supported by SEATCA, the Smoke-free Cities Asia Pacific Network (SCAN), and the Cambodia Movement for Health (CMH).
