World No Tobacco Day 2024 is dedicated to “Protecting Children from Tobacco Industry Interference.”

Backed by evidence from the Global Tobacco Industry Interference Index 2023, this year’s campaign is a call to counter deceptive industry practices that endanger our youth and the worsening global trend of tobacco industry interference in public health policy. SEATCA joins the World Health Organization (WHO) and other public health advocates worldwide to empower the youth, expose industry tactics, and raise public awareness about the need to protect health policies from tobacco industry interference.

Who is Big Tobacco?

Big Tobacco targets the youth through deceitful tactics. With a polished smile and a hidden agenda, it uses lobbying, litigation, misinformation, and front groups to manipulate young minds into a lifetime of addiction. It floods politics with money, saturate media with ads, and craft marketing schemes designed to ensnare our children. Under the guise of “corporate social responsibility,” it pretends to care, while front groups and smuggling operations ensure its reach is limitless.

However, everyday citizens rise up to face Big Tobacco and raise awareness on the unethical strategies it uses. As we commemorate World No Tobacco Day, we will introduce our everyday heroes – teenagers, policymakers, health advocates, ordinary citizens – who stand together and protect our children from tobacco interference.

Are you ready to meet and join them?
